Our Story

Westside Produce & Provisions is owned by Gordon and James Holley.  

We have been in the food business all of our lives. Gordon built his career as an executive in food service distribution while James worked in both retail and food service sales. When the family-owned businesses we worked for were purchased by national companies, we decided we just weren't the big corporation kind of guys, and we had to figure out something else to do with our lives.

While volunteering for Buy Fresh Buy Local Hampton Roads we discovered that there was a real need for a local business to offer “Fresh Foods from Local Producers.” In June 2012 we opened Westside. While Hampton Roads boasts lots of local farms and food producers, it can be difficult in this sprawling region to travel to all the individual farms, markets or bazaars. Although we still encourage our customers to take the time to visit these places, as they give you a unique connection to the people who create your food, we wanted to create a place where you could purchase all local food conveniently whenever you needed. 

Westside Produce & Provisions sources products from over a dozen local farms, over 50 local food and beverage producers, and dozens of Virginia wineries and breweries. We also maintain a garden on premise where we grow herbs and cut flowers that are maintained through a partnership with Old Dominion University's Classroom to Table Program.
